In recognition of National College Savings Month in September, we will host a workshop titled “Navigating 529 Savings Plans” on September 17, presented by Jay Edwards.
This session will provide an overview of 529 college savings plans and their role in helping families prepare for future education expenses. Participants will learn how 529 plans work, the potential tax advantages and other benefits they may offer, and important considerations when determining how much and how often to contribute. The workshop will also discuss investment options, qualified education expenses, beneficiary considerations, and strategies for making the most of a 529 plan at different stages of a child’s education journey. Attendees will gain practical information to help them better understand these accounts and make informed decisions when planning for future education costs.
Considering recent changes and new opportunities available to investors, we will also offer a workshop titled “Making Sense of New Federal Investment Account Opportunities” on November 4, presented by Thomas Houdeak and Lee Moore.
This session will provide an overview of the new federal investment account opportunities, and the key features participants should understand before opening and contributing to an account. Topics will include eligibility requirements, how to establish an account, the type of retirement or investment vehicle these accounts are considered, contribution limits, investment considerations, tax implications, and other important rules and features. They will also discuss how these accounts may fit into broader financial and retirement planning strategies, as well as considerations individuals and families should evaluate when determining whether this type of account is appropriate for their financial goals. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how the accounts work and the questions they should consider before getting started.
