Small Business Financial Education Program Manager Position
The Financial Education Program Manager – Small Business (FEPM – SBO) reports to the Executive Director (ED) of Pathway Financial Education. This position leads Pathway’s small business education efforts, including workshops, one-on-one coaching, and the Pro Bono Small Business Clinic, to help entrepreneurs strengthen their financial foundations, improve operations, and grow sustainably.
The FEPM – SBO oversees the planning, organization, and delivery of programs that serve aspiring and established small business owners. This includes coordinating volunteer professionals, managing participant intake and outcomes, and fostering strong relationships with partners, referral sources, and community organizations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Management & Delivery
- Collaborate with the ED to select, create, revise, and adapt educational materials for small business owners.
- Oversee all aspects of the Pro Bono Small Business Clinic, including intake, scheduling, volunteer coordination, and participant follow-up.
- Facilitate or coordinate small business workshops on topics such as business planning, cash flow, marketing, contracts, and capital access — either by teaching directly or by partnering with volunteer experts.
- Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with small business owners to provide personalized guidance and track progress over time.
- Adapt curricula and materials to meet the evolving needs of small business audiences.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, local businesses, and ecosystem organizations to promote Pathway’s small business programming.
- Represent Pathway at community events, business expos, and partner sites to recruit participants, host workshops, and expand awareness of available resources.
- Support outreach campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team to promote events, workshops, and clinic opportunities.
- Travel into the community to host or deliver workshops at partner sites as needed.
Volunteer & Partner Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and support volunteer professionals who serve as instructors or coaches.
- Provide resources, orientation, and ongoing communication to ensure high-quality experience for both volunteers and participants.
- Prepare volunteers for their roles by sharing materials, expectations, and relevant participant information.
- Maintain positive, ongoing relationships with volunteers, partner organizations, and referral sources.
- Collaborate with banking, legal, and community partners to develop new program offerings and enhance the participant experience.
Data, Reporting, & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct participant intake, assessments, and follow-up surveys to evaluate outcomes.
- Track participation metrics and prepare reports on program reach and impact.
- Research best practices in small business education and incorporate them into program design and delivery.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate program records, scheduling, and participant communications.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports related to small business programming.
- Contribute to the development of training materials, promotional content, and success stories.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Education, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in small business development, entrepreneurship, or financial education.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfort facilitating workshops, meeting with entrepreneurs, and engaging with the public.
- Willingness to travel locally to deliver workshops or attend community events.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with volunteers and partners.
- Knowledge of local business resources, funding programs, and small business ecosystems preferred.
Job Type & Compensation Package
- Full-time
- Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Standard 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
- Evening or weekend hours may occasionally be required for workshops and events

Work Location and Travel:
- In person
- Regular travel within the Kansas City area is required to host workshops and attend community events
