About Pathway Financial Education

Located in the heart of Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, Pathway Financial Education is a nonprofit organization committed to breaking down barriers to financial knowledge. We offer free financial education, 1:1 opportunities, and hands-on support to small business owners, adults, and high school students, with a focus on communities that have historically lacked access to these vital resources.

Our work goes beyond education—we equip our participants with the tools and knowledge they need to make confident financial decisions, grow businesses, and achieve long-term financial stability.

Our Beginning

In 2021, we opened our doors with one goal: to make financial education radically accessible to the communities that need it most. This ribbon cutting marked more than a building, it marked the start of a movement.

Our Purpose and Principles

The Pathway Mission

We make financial education radically accessible connecting under-resourced individuals and small business owners with the expert support they need to build take control of their their financial well-being.

The Pathway Vision

We envision thriving communities where money is no longer a barrier but a tool and where every individual, regardless of background, has access to the knowledge, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed, grow wealth, and shape their future.

Our Guiding Principles

Our work is grounded in equity, inclusion, empowerment, integrity, and community. We believe financial education should be a right, not a privilege. We design with the people we serve, lead with transparency, and build lasting change through partnership and trust.

Community Outreach

Pathway Financial Education actively partners with community organizations, schools, and local leaders to ensure our programs meet the real-world needs of the people we serve. Through this collaborative, community-centered approach, we extend the reach of our free financial education programs and make them more accessible, relevant, and impactful.

By meeting people where they are—whether in a high school classroom, a neighborhood community center, or a local small business hub—we help individuals gain the tools, confidence, and support they need to build lasting financial independence.

Our Instructors

Pathway’s instructors are volunteers who are passionate about making financial education accessible to everyone. Our growing team brings a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, which makes our programming not only high-quality but also relevant and relatable.

Some are seasoned experts and credentialed professionals from Creative Planning, our founding partner, while others are community members, educators, and leaders with a heart for service and a desire to give back. What they all share is a commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive learning environment where participants feel empowered to ask questions, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward financial independence.
